For two and a half years, I lived what some may call the “high life” as a cruise ship musician. My job description was simple: play songs and help the bar staff sell drinks. In exchange for a four-hour performance every evening, I spent my days taking advantage of the buffets and onboard spa or laying on a beach the Turks.
This life was turning me into someone I no longer recognized. I became self-absorbed, gluttonous, drunk and arrogant. I truly thought I had the greatest job on the planet and that I was the best at it.
