Association for Episcopal Deacons

  • Member since 2016deaconcross_red
  • The Association for Episcopal Deacons is the preeminent diaconal association of the Episcopal Church.  It exists to enable the diakonia (diaconal service and action) of all the baptized.  To this end, it encourages every diocese to develop programs to ordain deacons, and provides resources to recruit and select, form, deploy, supervise and support deacons.

American Choral Directors Association

  • ACDA membership consists of choral directors who represent more than one million singers across the United States. ACDA members teach choral music in public and private schools – kindergarten through senior high school – and at the college and university levels. They conduct a variety of choral groups, including boychoirs, children’s choirs, men’s and women’s choruses, junior and senior high school choirs, college and university choruses, ethnic choirs, vocal-jazz ensembles, and symphony choruses. They also conduct choirs in their communities and in their places of worship.

  • Music & Bugling Merit Badge Counselor
    • Registered in the East Carolina Council and the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council
  • The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

Grainger-Hill Performing Arts Center Board of Directorsghpac-logo-1

  • Board member since 2011
  • Webmaster & IT Specialist since 2013 (www.ghpac.com)
  • What is Grainger-Hill Performing Arts Center? Grainger-Hill Performing Arts Center is owned and maintained by the Preservation of the Grainger Complex, a 501-3(c) organization created to restore and revitalize Grainger High School in Kinston, North Carolina. In recent years, the old high school has turned into a home for a community gymnasium, apartment complex, a “head-start” program for underprivileged children, and a state-of-the-art performing arts venue. The board that handles Grainger-Hill Performing Arts Center has recently brought a new brand of entertainment to Kinston.
  • What have I done for them? As webmaster and IT specialist, I play a key role in the new marketing campaign. I’ve refreshed the website, created the new brand (logo, print material, etc.), and brought new technology to the front-of-house side of the venue by offering online ticket sales and the ability to accept credit cards at all functions and events.

St. John’s Lodge No. 4 A. F. & A. M.GLNorthCarolina210w

  • Master Mason since 2012
  • What is St. John’s Lodge No. 4? St. John’s Lodge Number 4 of Ancient Free & Accepted Masons is the oldest existing organization of any kind in Kinston, North Carolina. In 1760, it was chartered by the Duke of Beaufort, Grandmaster of England, under the reign of King George III. After the American Revolution, St. John’s Lodge was chartered by the Grand Lodge of North Carolina on December 6, 1787. If you’ve watched the History Channel any over the past decade, you’ve most likely seen plenty of information about Freemasonry (barely half of which is actually true). St. John’s Lodge serves as a charitable organization assisting the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford, NC and White Stone Retirement Home in Greensboro, NC.
  • What have I done for them? During my time with St. John’s Lodge, I have brought music back into the lodge meetings and “rituals,” including hymns and masonic music. I also served as Grand Organist for the Grand Lodge of North Carolina (a temporary and volunteer position) for Annual Communication in September 2014.
